Hey there guys!

Sorry I haven't posted anything yet, I've been fairly busy not only with summer assignments but with some personal projects as well (some of which were inspired by ideas given to me by Mrs. Brauer). I've found some good inspiration on my grandparents' farm but other than that I am somewhat lacking, though I'm hoping to solve that this week actually. On Friday, I'm leaving for a couple weeks to go on a family vacation in the Outer Banks. The house we always stay at is frequented by herds of wild horses so I hope to get some more pictures for the photography aspect of our summer assignment.

As for the other components, I have a few ideas to go off of for the collage and I have a set plan for the prized possession drawing. When Mrs. Brauer first sent us the document at the end of the school year, I was already jotting down ideas for both!

Anna and Maria, it's nice to see others already working on the assignments. I was worried I was the only one and thought that maybe I was going a bit too fast on them. I have all of the materials prepared that I need (probably way more than necessary) and I've got my little studio set up in my basement ready to go for when I return from vacation.

My only real concern for this upcoming school year is being able to come up with a theme that will keep my interest for the entire year. I tend to jump from one thing to the next rather rapidly on my own. In the short amount of time that we have been off, I've managed to work my way through several different editing programs on the computer, try out a couple different paint varieties, and even dip my toe into polymer clay (figuratively, of course). I just hope that I can find a subject and a medium that will keep me entertained for the school year as well as give me some wiggle room to experiment with new techniques.

I can't wait to get back into the classroom and see what you guys have created over the summer! I'm sure we'll have some good discussions both online and in class about our journeys over the summer and how the summer assignments have let us further develop our skills.
